ABOUT NASHVILLE SYMPHONY
The monumental orchestra powerhouse Nashville Symphony is based in Tennessee. Led by the illustrious music director Leonard Slatkin, the symphony has 79 years of outstanding history. Founded by Walter Sharp, a World War II Veteran and Nashville Native, the symphony has gronw into becoming one of the most esteemed orchestras in North America. The orchestra has recently welcomed Slatkin as its new director since 2025 and will be bringing a highly dynamic and diverse line up performances. The symphony has four major directors including Slatkin, Gian Carlo Guerrero, Nathan Aspinall, and Tucker Biddlecombe. Today, the Nashville Symphony has over 80 members, all are incredibly talented musicians that are specially selected to bring orchestra music closer to the general public.
AWARDS
The Nashville Symphony has a total of 26 Grammy nominations and won 14 Grammy Awards. 2008’s recording of The Music of Joan Tower: Made in America won three Grammys alone, including Best Classical Album. Their recording of Michael Daugherty’s “Deux Ex Machina” also bagged the symphony three Grammy Awards. These are just some of their outstanding work that has earned them countless recognitions over the years.

Community Event: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
The vibrant harmony between tradition and innovation is brought center stage in this thrilling community event. The show features Nashville Symphony’s chamber program which comprises Louise Morrison on violin. Kevin Bate on cello, Danny Goldman on clarinet, and Megan Cale on piano. Together they will bring Berstein’s dynamic and bold melodies and Stravinksy’s timeless storytelling music to life.
Guerrero Conducts Petrouchka featuring Brahms Second Piano Concert
Classical Series: Thursday, Friday April 9, 10, 2016
Conductor Giancarlo Guerrero is leading the massive orchestra into a glorious music performance for this once in a lifetime spectacle. For two nights, Guerrero continues to explore Stravinsky’s great masterpiece, Petrouchka. According to the Nashville Symphony, the presentation is a “musical whirlwind, telling the tale of love, rivalry, and tragedy.” The music featured in this presentation comes from Johaness Brahms (Piano Concerto no. 2) and Igor Stravnsky’s Petrouchka.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert
Movie Series: April 17 to 19, 2026
Three magical performances of the famed original film soundtrack from the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets will conquer the Schermerhorn Center for three days. The Nashville Symphony will deliver its full ensemble for this one and will be led by conductor Justin Freer.
The Miraculous Mandarin and Music of Bates
Classical Series: May 1 to 3, 2026
Nashville Symphony will be led by the estemmed Giancarlo Guerrero in this spectacular presentation of music from the Grammy Award winning composer Mason Bates. Soprano Fleur Barron will also be joining this spectacle and will be bringing audiences into an exhilarating music trip. The performance also includes the electrifying Suite from the Miraculous Mandarin from Bela Bartok.
Steep Canyon Rangers
Special Event: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
Bluegrass act Steep Canyon Rangers will be serving a brilliant presentation with the Nashville Symphony. The showdown merges the charm and dynamism of traditional bluegrass with sensational orchestral accompaniment from the Nashville Symphony. It’s an ultra unique performance that will demontrate exceptional artistry featuring songs from the band’s latest albums.
Micahel Feinstein’s Tribute to Tony Bennett
Special Event: May 7 to 9, 2026
This amazing tribute to Tony Bennett will be performed by superb entertainer Michael with the Nashville Symphony with conductor Sarah Hall. Audiences can expect iconic hits like “New York State of Mind,” “Because of You,” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”
Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony, a Summer Celebration.
Special Event: June 16 to July 31, 2026
Nashville Symphony will literally bring top tier music to your years with this amazing showcase featuring Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony, a Summer Celebration. This production has been co-produced by Parton herself with some collaborations with Schirmer Theatrical and Sony Music Publishing. This incredible presentation features a total of 37 performances starting from June 16. This is beyond a special event, but the ultimate country orchestral showcase that will happen only here at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Audiences can expect illustrious hits like “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and tons more.

Opening Weekend: Celebrating 20 Years at Schermerhorn
Classical Series: September 11 to 13, 2026
Nashville Symphony is celebrating two decades of incredible residency at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center with this grand presentation of several classical masterpieces. The performances include Tower’s Made in America, Copland’s Old American Songs, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and more. The presentation will be conducted by Leaonard Slatkin with Tucker Biddlecombe as chorus director.
Mozart and Marsalis
Classical Series: October 16 to 17, 2026
Leonard Slatkin leads the symphony with soloist Kelly Hall Tompkins. Together, they will bring the magical music from Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Marsalis. It’s a thrilling classical showcase exploring the wonders of timeless compositions.
Shostakovich & Rachmaninoff” Classical Series
November 19 to 21, 2026
Giancarlo Guerrero leads the symphony to a thrilling three night run. Together, they will perform Wolf’s Liberty Bell, Shostakovich’s Symphony no. 1, and Rachmaninoff’s Concerto no. 3. Esteemed pianist Yefim Bronfman will also perform.
Final Alice and Britten’s Young Person’s Guide
Classical Series: January 8 to 9, 2027
The Nashville Symphony and conductor Leonard Slatkin will be performing with soprano Hila Plitman in this thrilling new series. The two night extravaganza features music from Del Tredici’s Finale Alice and Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to Orchestra. This is a great performance to ring in the new year.
Brahm’s Reqiuem
Classical Series: February 18 to 20, 2027
In this fully stacked performance, we have the Nashville Symphony Orchestra with Leonard Slatkin, in cooperation with the Nashville Symphony Chorus led by Tucker Biddlecombe. Flute solois Erik Gratton, soprano Dianne Newman, and baritone Theo Hoffman will also be joining this extremely masterful performance. Music from Bukas (Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Ibert (Concerto of Flute and Orchestra) and Brahm (A German Requiem).
Copland and Bartok
Classical: June 11 to 13, 2027
Leonard Slatkin leads the symphony on this magnificent two night bonanza with music by McTee (Adagio String for Orchestra), Copland (Billy the Kid: Ballet in One Act), and Bartok (Concerto for Orchestra). The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a state of the art concert facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The venue is best known for its classic architecture. The venue has a stunning theater adorned with four great crystal chandeliers. The facility’s lush interiors, superb acoustics, and fantastic ambiance bring audiences great concert experiences. The venue is also equipped with cutting edge lights and sound technology and top caliber stage configuration specially designed to accommodate large orchestras and music production.
